Norfolk Botanical Gardens:

Every now and then this page will feature a different location, venue, park, event, etc in the Norfolk, Virginia Beach, Hampton Roads area or within a few hours ride.

If you have a favorite spot or recurring event in the area, please let me know by email and I’ll go check it out then post about it.  I won’t spam your inbox either!

I love the Gardens.  When we moved to Norfolk in April we ended up getting a place in a central location so we could learn the area before settling on where we wanted to put roots down.  This happened to be within a few minutes drive from the Airport and the Norfolk Botanical Gardens.  What luck!

I’m a nature lover and other than the occasional flight of an airplane overhead, the gardens are really peaceful and gorgeous.  There is so much to see.  From the Enchanted Forest to the Japanese Gardens, Healing Gardens and of course the kids area.

One of the first things I did after unpacking was to get membership.

If you haven’t seen the Garden of Lights during December at the Norfolk Botanical Gardens, please go.  They really do a nice job with the light show.   Plus if you are a member like me we got a preview (before the crowds) and a pot of daisies.

The gift shop is fabulous, full of all kinds of fun and pretty things.

Also, if you haven’t looked recently, check their web site for things going on at the Gardens.  They have classes and lectures as well as volunteer opportunities.

So far this is my favorite place in Norfolk to relax and unwind.

The Garden has award winning roses, you should see and smell  the rose garden when they are in full bloom!

The landscape is breathtaking!

The trails are scenic and full of wildlife.

There are ducks, geese, squirrels, turtles, birds, hawks, I once walked up on three raccoons who didn’t mind me being there!
